One of the main reasons why I included "research
methods" as one of the educational areas connected
with this is precisely the kind of issue that Ean
pointed out. Students need a lot of exposure to
all of the good and bad features of post-modern
technological tools; as they confront the problems
that show up while they are digging their way along,
they will be accumulating valuable experience.

If anyone is doing and/or supervising research in
their own state/county/city, I'd like to see some
progress reports posted to the list. Election Day
is closer than it seems, and I think it would be
really great to see some of the stuff hit the fan
before November arrives. . . .
