Hi All,

My name is Jon Nelson and I am a Corporal with the Pa. State Police,
albeit without any influence over purchasing decisions. ;)  I have
worked in the Computer Crime Unit for the last 9 years and have made
extensive use of OSS to support our Task Force operations.  I have
been using Linux since 1999, and just graduated with a BS in Computer
Science and an Undergraduate Certificate in Computer Security from
West Chester University.

I believe that Federal, State and Local governments have really missed
the boat in terms of OSS, which is especially true in the law
enforcement community.  In my 20 years of public service I seen so
many instances in which agencies are locked into an antiquated,
proprietary application because of the cost buying or upgrading to a
new solution.  OSS is the key to making government more efficient and
effective, and I hope this initiative will pave the way.
