From mgelfand at leftsflc.org Fri Jul 16 14:23:06 2010 From: mgelfand at leftsflc.org (mgelfand) Date: Fri, 16 Jul 2010 15:23:06 -0400 Subject: [press] Quick Question Message-ID: <4C40B19A.5040805@leftsflc.org> Dear OSFA Staff: We at SFLC are working on a research paper, and we were hoping that you might be able to point us to the sources for some information in your FAQ (http://opensourceforamerica.org/faq). Specifically, can you let me know where I can find the Gartner estimate referenced in "What does the market look like for open source software?" - I had trouble finding this source. Also, are there specific sources for the list of agencies which have adopted OSS (in "What is the history of open source in government?")? Any quick help you can give, especially with respect to the Gartner source, would me much appreciated! All my best, -- Matt Gelfand Legal Intern * Software Freedom Law Center 1995 Broadway, 17th Fl. I'm trying to hunt down the specific research this is from, but you'll see this same Gartner figure cited in this March 27, 2009 Forbes.com article (see last paragraph): http://www.forbes.com/2009/03/26/open-source-software-technology-cio-network-software.html Hope that helps, Stephanie On 7/16/10 3:23 PM, "mgelfand" wrote: Dear OSFA Staff: We at SFLC are working on a research paper, and we were hoping that you might be able to point us to the sources for some information in your FAQ (http://opensourceforamerica.org/faq).
