In my experience speaking in person is appropriate for making decisions but
email is better for transferring information.

The number #1 question that I have is "What are you trying to accomplish?"

I have been working with various Healthcare organizations, including
Surescripts and CCHIT to make their policies better for Open Source projects
as "Meaningful Use" approaches. Does this group intend to participate in
these kinds of boot-on-the-ground issues with government funding of Health
IT technology, or are you interested in doing other higher level things?

I have very limited time and I have to invest it where it will have the
greatest impact. For this reason I try to avoid agenda-less calls....
